July 13 – 4 O’Clock

POD.July.13_4-o'clockHello and Happy Saturday!

Today’s Photo-A-Day Challenge is 4 O’Clock.

At 4 this morning, I was awake and thought about taking photos.  But, I was afraid that I’d wake everyone up.

Thankfully I wasn’t up for very long!  That is never fun to be awake in the middle of the night.

At 4 this afternoon, I may be out window shopping — unless it’s pouring rain.  Then I might be watching Gilmore Girls.  I just don’t know.

I wanted to post something now so I may enjoy my time.   So, I decided to take photos of a few cool clocks at my in-law’s house.

That is my 4 o’clock.  What’s yours?

July 11 – I Wore This / Happy Birthday Kirk!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHappy birthday to my husband Kirk!  Today is his birthday!!   YEAH!

We are busy for a lot of the day, but there will still be time for our family to have fun and celebrate together.

Here are the three of us several years ago at the beach!  We had fun on this trip and have on several others.  And, we always love being home together and hanging out!

To my love, my best friend, confidant, and wonderful father to our son, I love you so very much!

I have enjoyed this journey around the sun with you.  There have been ups and downs, good and bad, and I am so glad you are my traveling companion!!  Thanks for your love, laughter, and support!

To many more wonderful years together!!  I love you and wish you a wonderful and very special day!!!  Happy Birthday.

Today’s Photo-A-Day challenge is I Wore This.

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAHere is a picture of my jewelry for the day along with a party hat that we bought for Kirk’s birthday and for our nephew Zachary who had a birthday yesterday.

We celebrated Zach’s 15th birthday at a wonderful dinner out and birthday cookie.  He was a baby the year we got married.  My time flies!!   Tonight we’ll celebrate with a dinner out for Kirk and some wonderful cake and candles.

Also in the picture are two of my favorite necklaces — one that states SRP LUV and the other is a picture of our family’s beach house with a rainbow to it.

As you may know, I LOVE Rainbows and grew up listening to a story about an elf trying to figure out where they come from.  This story was the inspiration for my blog.

These two items of jewelry are very special.  I made the Luv necklace with beads and material from a favorite bead store.  My sister gave me the necklace of the beach house.  On the other side of this necklace is a great picture of our grandparents.  They are the ones who started our love of this house and neighborhood which, thankfully, is still in the family.

I also have some turquoise pieces, my (pretty new) watch and some lovely shell earrings that my sister made for me.  I do love my accessories, as my friends and family can attest to.   They are, to me, what make an outfit!

I also want to wish my brother-in-law Cody a Happy Birthday today!  May you have time to relax and have fun!

My husband and my sister’s husband have the same birthday — just a few years apart.  How cool is that?

A few birthday quotes for the birthday boys!!!

  • “We know we’re getting old when the only thing we want for our birthday is not to be reminded of it.”  ~ Author Unknown
  • “A birthday is just the first day of another 365-day journey around the sun.  Enjoy the trip.”  ~ Author Unknown
  • “Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.”  ~ Chili Davis
  • “In childhood, we yearn to be grown-ups.  In old age, we yearn to be kids.  It just seems that all would be wonderful if we didn’t have to celebrate our birthdays in chronological order.”  ~ Robert Brault
  • “Birthdays are good for you.  Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest. ” ~ Larry Lorenzoni

July 8 – Path

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAHello and happy Monday.  Today’s Photo-A-Day is Path.

I thought this was a pretty path around bushes and shrubs.  And, you can see the road as well.

I like the two paths.

A few quotes about paths:

  • “You never know what’s around the corner. It could be everything. Or it could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you look back and you’ve climbed a mountain.”– Tom Hiddleston
  • “Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?” — Garth Nix
  • “It’s all well and good to look back after the fact and see what we should have done, but we rarely know what path is best when we take that first step.”– Christine Feehan
  • “The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn’t matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.”– Barbara Hall

Whatever is on your path for today, may you have a great journey!

July 7 — Where You Are

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAThe Photo A Day for today is Where You Are.  I decided to use where I was last night.

For dinner last night, we went to one of my favorite places —  Big Ed’s Pizza in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Kirk, Ian and I went to dinner with my brother Richmond, his wife Beckie, and their kids Isaac and Rachel.  We had a great time and enjoyed this town favorite!

We used to love to go to Big Ed’s while growing up – either before or after the football games.

The place is dark and has red and white tablecloths, thin plates, plastic forks, great drinks, and only pizza.  No salads, bread sticks, or other things that you can now get at a pizza joint.

The family and staff have stuck to what they make best.  Delicious thin crust pizza with yummy toppings.  It is definitely a town institution!

Weekend, photo a day

Hi Friday and hi weekend!  How are you?  It is so good to see you!

I don’t know about you but I am so ready for the weekend!  Hope you have a great one.

We will be busy for part of the weekend but also plan to have some time to relax and enjoy one another’s company.  May you have a great one as well.

Yesterday I started November Photo A Day, which is posted each month by fatmumslim.com.au.  The lady at this Web site comes up with a variety of ideas of images on a list.  My sister and a few of her friends did this last month.  I wanted to try for November.

Here are the first two images for the first two days of the month.  I will share them at the end of each week with you, or sooner.

**November 1 — “Something beginning with “C.”  For this item, I chose Ian decorating Halloween cookies.

This year, Halloween was a lot of fun with Ian.  Throughout the day, he wore three costumes — a race car driver, Super Why (who has the power to read), and a skeleton.

In the afternoon, we decorated cookies for Halloween.  Ian had fun with the frosting, candy, and sprinkles.  This pictures shows him hard at work.

We also went to Ian’s favorite restaurant for dinner.  And, after dinner did trick-or-treating inside throughout the house since he has the sniffles.  As he told me the next morning, “I had a great Halloween with you Mommy.”  I told him that we had a great time with him too!

**November 2 – “Colour.”  For this image I chose to take a picture of a colorful scarf that my sister made me as well as an equally colorful necklace that Ian made with my mother’s help.

She crocheted this scarf out of a multi-color yarn of blues, oranges, and greens.  I can wear it with many outfits and enjoy that each time I do.

They are pretty but look a lot better in person.  I need to work on lighting for the pictures as well as camera angles.  This will be fun to work on as the month of photos continue.

Do you have a favorite color?  I do!  Actually I have two of them — turquoise and red.  The turquoise reminds me of the ocean which I dearly love.  I also love turquoise jewelry and have quite a variety of pieces in my collection.  And red is the color of love and passion.  It is also nice that I almost always get compliments when I wear it.

I have a ring that I bought at the beach years ago that is turquoise and red and it is one of my favorites!

A few of the upcoming subjects will be — “breakfast,” “TV,” “something you do everyday,” and “tree.”  I look forward to the adventure of figuring out what images to shoot and what to write about.  Would you like to join me?

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!  Take care.
