Weekend Bliss

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERADon’t you just love weekends?  I sure do. And, this weekend there is an extra day.  Ah, bliss!

Today we have enjoyed our day at home.  After a busy week when we go out each day, it is so nice to stay in and relax. This morning, we made our breakfast, have enjoyed watching some tv movies, read, I have written, Ian has been playing, and Kirk has been staying busy with projects.

Our local radio station plays a lot of old songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s and we enjoy that.  I crank up the volume and enjoy dancing!  I just love the Bee-Gees, Kool and the Gang, Michael Jackson, and many other artists too!

Tonight is Boomsday.  Many people attend the festivities. This is a fantastic fireworks show held each Labor Day weekend.  We always know that it is fall when this and football start.

Tomorrow we will go to church, more than likely eat lunch out, and then come home and relax.  There may be a nap, or a favorite show or sports team to watch, and a walk — if it isn’t too humid and rainy.

Monday will be going to a cookout with family and enjoying that extra day of weekend bliss. Happy Labor Day indeed. Then Tuesday, it will be back to our usual routine.  We will however, have had loads of time to rest, relax, and enjoy ourselves.

This photo to me is all about relaxing.  This was taken during a recent visit to Cypress Gardens.  It is the swamp — full of water, water lilies, amazing trees, and animals. The beauty of nature is so calming, as shown so well in this photo.

I wonder what else this long weekend will bring?  It should be fun to find out!

We love rainbows!

Ian's rainbowYesterday, Ian and I weren’t feeling so great.  Our allergies were giving us fits.

Instead of our usual Sunday of going to church, lunch out with family, and then a lazy day, we simply had the lazy day.

In the morning, we made pancakes and bacon with fruit.  Ian and I had a Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse pancake and Kirk had a snowman pancake, among the usual round pancakes.  These were made simply with the spoon and the batter and were quite fun!  We had fun making food together, eating it, and then cleaning up.  Ian is quite the helper in the kitchen!

We then read, watched tv, and colored and drew pictures.  We were inspired to draw a few photos of rainbows.  Ian has learned the 7 colors of them as I had (ROYGBIV – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet).

Can I just tell you how fun it was to color and draw?!  A friend of mine has a coloring book and encourages other adults to color when they come to visit him.  This is a great idea since it is relaxing and fun to do.  After all, crayons and coloring pencils aren’t just for kids!!!

Hope you enjoy the rainbow that Ian drew and that we added the pot of gold too, as well as the one with our dear Willie’s quote — “I Still Wonder Where Rainbows Come From.”Wonder-Rainbow
