Hi and Happy Thursday! In honor of my sister’s birthday in a few days, I wanted to post a photo of us from 2009. I decided to post one of us with a few other people. We love the beach, so I thought she would enjoy this photo.
From left is my brother, sister-in-law, me, my hubby, and my sister on the end. Her hubby was not in the picture. We were sitting on the seawall at sunset at Mission Beach, CA. This is our favorite place to watch and many, many family photos have been taken here.
This summer we look forward to another beach trip and I am so looking forward to it, as I know my siblings are! We will be there for a family reunion and will see cousins, and aunt and uncles and dear friends!
There is so much I love about the beach and especially this beach. I have been honored to share many memories with friends and family. And, now I love seeing Ian’s generation enjoy it as much I always did growing up.
A few highlights of the beach for me are:
Delicious fish tacos
Breakfast on our front porch
Our tiny beach cottage filled with love
Laughs with family and friends
Bike rides with family
Playing in the bay
Cooking and savoring meals together
Our family sing-alongs
My aunt’s amazing piano playing ability
Sunsets into the ocean
Feeling my toes in the sand
The feel and smell of the ocean
My hair blowing in the breeze
The majesty of the ocean and waves
The memories of decades of beach fun
The waves rushing over my toes and legs
I wonder what fun and mischief we will get into while at the beach this summer?! I sure cannot wait to find out!
Hi and Happy Saturday! Today’s photo challenge is Evening. Here is a photo that I took back in December of a lovely sunset. I know it’s a bit old but thought it was pretty, so decided to go with it.
This evening, we will be having dinner with family at a favorite pizza place in our town. Should be fun and I am looking forward to it. While I am out tonight, I will have to see what photos I can take. Hopefully it will be a lovely evening.
My evenings aren’t as late or fun as they used to be. With a boy in school, there is a strict bed time each school night so he can stay on schedule. This can sometimes make things rough on the weekends, but it’s worth it for our sweet little man.
When I was younger, I was in Camp Fire (similar to Girl Scouts). In the summer we had camp where we got to spend the night as we got older.
We often would sing songs, such as Taps, “Day is done, gone the sun, From the lake, from the hills, from the sky; All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.”
Here are a few quotes I found on evening:
“My day is done, and I am like a boat drawn on the beach, listening to the dance-music of the tide in the evening.” – Rabindranath Tagore
“Inhale and hold the evening in your lungs.”- Sebastian Faulks
“There they stand, the innumerable stars, shining in order like a living hymn, written in light. – N.P. Willis
May you have a great evening with whatever you do!
Yeah, it’s Saturday. Don’t you just love Saturdays?
I do since we don’t have to get up for school. But instead can be in our pjs as long as we want! Or get up and start moving. It’s our day of the week to just be and see what happens.
One thing today is my photos and blogging.
For the Photo Challenge today, we are to shoot something “In The Background.”
I think some of the best background shots are of sunsets.
Last summer I took these on the same night. The first is as the sun was still on the horizon and before it had set. in the second one below, you can see just a sliver left of the sun as it dips into the horizon.
I love sunsets and love taking pictures of them. I imagine I probably have thousands (literally) of sunset pictures. To me, they never get old.
I wonder what your background photo choice would be? Please share with me and my readers. And, have a great rest of the weekend!
