We love rainbows!

Ian's rainbowYesterday, Ian and I weren’t feeling so great.  Our allergies were giving us fits.

Instead of our usual Sunday of going to church, lunch out with family, and then a lazy day, we simply had the lazy day.

In the morning, we made pancakes and bacon with fruit.  Ian and I had a Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse pancake and Kirk had a snowman pancake, among the usual round pancakes.  These were made simply with the spoon and the batter and were quite fun!  We had fun making food together, eating it, and then cleaning up.  Ian is quite the helper in the kitchen!

We then read, watched tv, and colored and drew pictures.  We were inspired to draw a few photos of rainbows.  Ian has learned the 7 colors of them as I had (ROYGBIV – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet).

Can I just tell you how fun it was to color and draw?!  A friend of mine has a coloring book and encourages other adults to color when they come to visit him.  This is a great idea since it is relaxing and fun to do.  After all, crayons and coloring pencils aren’t just for kids!!!

Hope you enjoy the rainbow that Ian drew and that we added the pot of gold too, as well as the one with our dear Willie’s quote — “I Still Wonder Where Rainbows Come From.”Wonder-Rainbow

A Rainy Monday

rain“Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.”  — The Carpenters.

Today is a rainy Monday morning.  The sky is gray and it has been a bit hard to get going this morning.  I don’t know if this combination always gets me down, but I suppose sometimes that it can.  What do you think?

I am glad that it is the start of a new week and a new week of possibilities.  But sometimes the lack of sunshine can effect me, as it is very overcast today and wet outside.

Last week Ian and I were sick.  That was a rough week and no fun at all!!  Today, however, we are feeling lots better but not quite back to ourselves yet.  We are getting there.

Slowly but surely we have been getting better and that is a blessing.  We had lots of lazy time and that is good! Yesterday afternoon, we played “Candyland” and “Chutes and Ladders.”  What fun that was to enjoy with Ian.

I hope and pray that you will stay well!  It seems that many people get sick this time of year, so take care of yourself and get plenty of rest.

I am reminded of the quote that without the rain there are no rainbows, or something like that.  I will try to be thankful today for the rain nourishing the grass, trees, and plants outside.  This water is doing some good for nature.

Besides, have you noticed how stunning everything looks the day after a storm?  The world looks much brighter somehow.

If you too are having a rough day, may the Lord stretch His hand upon you and help you realize that it won’t last that long.  And, may we remember He is always there with us to get through the tough and rough times.

And, here is hoping for the sun to come out tomorrow!

Rainy Days and Mondays

As you remember, there was a song that said, “Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down.”

It is a great song, but not my thoughts at all.  I am fine with a rainy Monday, especially after the gorgeous and sunny weekend that we had.

Rainy days are a nice time to read a great book inside, or play a game, or listen to a favorite song and dance all over the house.  Or, if there is no lightning and thunder, it is fun to play in the puddles!

And, have you noticed that after a rainy day or two, you often have a day that is absolutely beautiful and sometimes a rainbow comes out?  It seems that everything is brighter.

My thoughts and prayers are with those in the gulf who received 22 inches of rain over the weekend.  Now that is way too much.

I saw a picture of a person kayaking in a parking lot.  So much not right with that image.

Stay safe and dry and hopefully we’ll see a rainbow today!  I wonder if we will!!
