Happy 51st Anniversary / Happy Father’s Day!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA TT.DadDay2This weekend is big in my family. Today is my parent’s 51st wedding anniversary.  And, tomorrow is Father’s Day.  So Happy Anniversary to my Mom and Dad and Happy Dad’s day to Dad. Here is a favorite photo of the two of them and another of me with Dad.

They are awesome parents and we celebrated their anniversary last night.  We enjoyed dinner with them and cake and ice cream and a long visit.  It was great. Tonight they will have dinner out with some dear friends. Then tomorrow after church, we will make lunch for them and for Kirk in celebration of Father’s Day.

Ian had asked me recently if we were going to celebrate their anniversary this year.  Last year was their 50th anniversary and we had two big parties.  We had visits with friends and family we hadn’t seen in a while and had a terrific time.  This year we celebrated but on a much smaller scale.

I love that we live close enough to them to have regular visits.  It is so great for Ian as well to have lot of time with his grandparents.  I am so very thankful for that and count it as a definite blessing.  My parents taught me so much and now they are teaching Ian many things as well.

I have such fond memories with my parents:

  • Camping trips at state parks
  • Driving cross-country to the beach
  • Reading the paper on the beach house porch
  • Camp Fire songs and food
  • Shag carpet and dark walls
  • Photos at the beach
  • Numerous sunsets
  • Fireworks and cookouts
  • Weddings and Baptisms
  • Lions Club sales and meetings
  • Moving them into their new home
  • Singing with them at church
  • Lunches after church
  • Activities at Ian’s school
  • Many moments with my parents, my siblings, and our children
  • Birthday celebrations with family and friends
  • Family books and inside jokes

My parents mean the world to me.  They have taught me so much:

  • Unconditional love
  • Tolerance of others
  • The love of the ocean
  • The love of extended family
  • Parenting with discipline and love
  • To work hard and equally play hard
  • To savor and cherish each day
  • To always be thankful
  • To spend time with loved ones
  • To use my talents and abilities
  • To be appreciative of others
  • To be kind and loving
  • To still wonder about things

Mom and Dad, thanks for everything!  You were and still are amazing parents to me, to Cindy and to Richmond, great in-laws to Kirk, Cody, and Beckie.  And you are amazing grandparents to our children.  Love you always!

Mom and Dad.weddingFifty years ago today, my parents were married.   Happy 50th Anniversary to you, Mom and Dad!  May you have a wonderful time remembering your wedding day.  Happy Golden Anniversary!!!

I love this picture of the two of them.  They are so young and excited about starting their life together.  Little did they know then that one day they would be celebrating 50 years as husband and wife.

What an amazing accomplishment in a marriage — 5 decades together!  Five decades of good and bad, ups and downs, laughter and tears, compromises, fun and adventures, schools and jobs, travels and moves, celebrations, births and deaths, and so much more.

It started with the two of them.  Then they had three children — two girls and a boy.  These children then grew up and married and had families of their own.  Now there are five grandchildren.  A family of 13!  What a blessing.

Here are a few quotes about anniversaries:

  • “True love stories never have endings.” — Richard Bach
  • “An anniversary is a time to celebrate the joys of today, the memories of yesterday, and the hopes of tomorrow.” — Author Unknown
  • “There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage.” — Martin Luther
  • “Newlyweds become oldyweds, and oldyweds are the reasons that families work.” — Author Unknown

To my parents, I love you and thank you so much everything!  Have a great day!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Mom and Dad.weddingOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHappy Anniversary to my Mom and Dad!

Today is their anniversary!  I hope and pray that they have a fabulous day and will enjoy celebrating their many years as husband and wife.

Here they are on their wedding day.  I love this picture of the two of them.  He is such a handsome groom and she is a lovely bride.

The other photo was taken a few years ago in San Diego.  They are still crazy about each other and love one another very much.

My parents have taught me all about marriage, friendship, family, faith, love, and so much more.  They are awesome!  They are wonderful parents and grandparents and are loved by all of us very much.

Growing up and seeing how much they still love each other has helped teach me that love can last forever and that relationships can thrive.   My siblings and I are fortunate to have had such an amazing model for marriage and what a partnership is truly all about.

A few quotes about marriage and anniversaries for the happy couple:

  • There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage. – Martin Luther

  • The secret of a happy marriage is finding the right person. You know they’re right if you love to be with them all the time. – Julia Child
  • Real love stories never have endings.” —Richard Bach

For my parents:

May the love you started many years ago

Continue each day to grow and grow

May you comfort one another when times are tough

And be sure there is fun and laughter enough

Sweethearts truly ’til the end

May you always be each other’s best friend

Thanks for all you’ve shown to me

About how to be a spouse and have a family

May you know how loved you truly are

To your kids, and grandkids, you both are the star

Happy Anniversary dear Mom and Dad

Love you both, you’re truly rad!

(Mom and Dad, I apologize for some of the bad grammar, but this is what worked for the poem.)

Happy 49th Anniversary to you both!!!!!!!!

Happy late Birthday Mom!

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERAYesterday was my mother’s birthday!

We had such fun celebrating with her both yesterday and during a family party on Saturday.

I didn’t take the time to write anything then.  But I did want to wish her well and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU online.

I love my Mom and love that we are friends.  She has taught me so much – both as a child and now that I too am a parent. She is a great example for me and I am so thankful for her.

Like me, she loves to read, sing, take photos, spend time with family and friends.  And, she loves her children and grandchildren more than words.

Here are a few pictures of us.  The first one is with her on Mother’s Day earlier this year with Ian. The other two are from many, many years ago.SRP.34_Mairy.Patti.Artha.1968 SRP.72.Bill.Mairzy.Patti.late1960s The first is me with my mother and her mother.  We were having fun at the beach.  The last picture is of me with both of my parents.

Thanks Mom for everything!  I love you very much.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Mom and Dad.weddingToday, June 18, is my parent’s anniversary.

Happy Anniversary to you Mom and Dad!

Here they are as young adults on the day of their wedding.  Aren’t they a fine-looking couple?  I sure think so!

They have taught me about real and unconditional love.

They have taught me about compromise, faith, forgiveness, happiness, and what a family bond is.

The have taught me about the importance of spending quality time with family and friends.

They have also taught me how to be a loving and kind spouse and a loving parent who disciplines and teaches with love.

I thank them and appreciate their example!!

I love that they are still crazy about each other and love to spend time together.

They also love to spend time with family, friends, and especially their grandchildren.

It is a real blessing to be a part of this family!!
