Throwback Thursday / Number

Hello and Happy Thursday!

Today I decided to post a photo for Throwback Thursday as well as the Photo-A-Day challenge, Number.

SRP.72.Bill.Mairzy.Patti.late1960sFirst is a photo from way, way back.

It is circa 1970s in Mission Beach, CA.  I am pictured with my parents on the front porch of the family beach house.

The neighborhood has changed some but a few of these same buildings are still there.  What has changed are the cars, the items on the porch, the paint color, the hairdos, and the clothes.

Don’t my parents look great?  I sure think so!  And, I love the dress that I am wearing.

It is very special to have been able to go to this beach house throughout my life and now also have my own family go!

Even though I haven’t been able to go this summer, I have enjoyed looking at old pictures and seeing postings from friends and family who are there this year.

Today’s Photo-A-Day challenge is Number.

For this I thought about what I could take a photo of.  There were a lot of choices, but I ultimately decided to post some numbers that Ian wrote about 8 months ago.

I love his attempt at writing 1-11.  I think he did a pretty great job for someone still learning his numbers.

My sweet boy is growing up and will be starting kindergarten next month!

I am so excited about all he will be learning.

What would you use for the number photo?

Throwback Thursday – 2 Girls at Mission Beach, CA

Hi and Happy Thursday.   We are just a few days away from the end of the month.  Can you believe it?  This year has flown by.  Now we are in the midst of another wonderful summer!!

Cindy.Patti.seawallToday for my new Throwback Thursday, I wanted to post two of my favorite pictures of me with my sister Cindy.

The time was in the early 1970s, the place is Mission Beach, CA, and as you can see we are wearing matching outfits.

The photo on the left is cute as we are in motion and ready to hit the beach – even though we are both dressed up.  I love the wind in our hair and our bodies in motion.

girls at beachThe photo on the right showed our personalities at the time.  I was very shy as a child and liked to be quiet and Cindy was very outgoing with a zeal and zest for life — even as a very young girl.

This picture captures both of us and who we were at the time.

Since these photos were taken, we have taken many, many other pictures at this favorite location.  We have them throughout our growing up years and with our own children.

Last summer, we took pictures of the two of us sitting on the seawall with our mother.  Special times and special pictures!

I wonder what our next wonderful pictures will be?  Will they be at this much-loved beach or somewhere else?  It will be fun to find out!
